Halo Burger reigns supreme as the “Best Hamburger” in

From the freshest, highest quality ingredients, to mounds of toppings and every condiment imaginable, it’s no wonder that Halo Burger was crowned number one by fans in the 2011 Best of Genesee Readers’ Choice Awards.
Each year, readers of The Flint Journal are asked to vote for their top picks in a variety of categories from restaurants to car washes.
From the QP Burger to the Half Pound Supreme Burger, Halo Burger has been serving up mouthwatering burgers in Flint for over 80 years. Other offerings unique to Halo Burger include the Olive Burger piled high with sliced green olives, and the Boston Cooler which is sure to satisfy any appetite for a refreshing shake.
“Since the very beginning, it has been our mission to serve our customers day after day, with the best quality hamburgers along with the best condiments possible,” said Lou Dortch, Jr., who is president of Dortch Enterprises, L.L.C. “We are thrilled to be recognized as the ‘Best Hamburger’ in Genesee County and will continue to serve the burgers that area residents have known for years.”
Halo Burger was acquired by Dortch Enterprises, another very successful family owned business. The Dortch Group, which began operations in Flint, Michigan in 1938, has owned multiple Subway restaurants in several local counties for the past 25 years. Currently, there are nine Halo Burgers in the Flint area. Within the next year, the company will be adding a minimum of two Halo Burger locations and approximately 50 employees.
Over the years, Halo Burger has earned multiple titles for the tasty burgers: Top 100 Burgers in the United States according to a national radio survey in 1978, #1 Hamburger in Flint according to The Flint Journal in 1983, and #1 Burger in Michigan according to The Detroit News in 2000.
